Industry Adjustment to Promote Performance Differentiation of Ship Enterprise Order Concentration

Industry Adjustment to Promote Performance Differentiation of Ship Enterprise Order Concentration

Since the financial crisis, the whole ship industry is facing adjustment. This round of adjustment has brought far-reaching structural impact to the ship industry, the ship industry presents a marked trend of differentiation. The concentration of orders of ship enterprises is increasing day by day, and the operational situation of large ship enterprises and small and medium-sized ship enterprises is becoming increasingly differentiated.
Increased concentration of ship enterprise orders
In the first half of 2011, Chinas new orders for ships of 21.6 million dwt dropped 9.2 % year on year, according to the China. About half of the enterprises in the statistical scope have not received orders, and 10 of the 43 vessels under focused monitoring have not received orders. From the point of view of the listed companies, the business situation also presents a differentiated trend, mixed.
The completion of shipbuilding in China(601989) amounted to 5,404,000 deadweight tons in the first half of 2010, an increase of 41.6 per cent over the same period in 2010, well above the 4.4 per cent growth rate for the ship industry as a whole; The construction of the vessel started at 4.779 million tons, an increase of 7.67 % over the same period in 2010 and a record high again; New orders for civilian vessels of 3.2 million dwt, the contract amount to 8.67 billion yuan, up 69.25 % from the same period last year. As at 30 June 2011, the company had placed 24.37 million deadweight tons of hand-held ship orders, which had been delivered to 2014, laying a solid foundation for the continued growth of future company performance.
By contrast, the performance of other shipping companies is a bit flat. The number of ships in the China(600,150) delivered 24 ships in the first half of the year, bringing the total to 3.77 million dead weight tons, down 8.76 per cent from the previous year; To undertake 8 new ship orders, 63.82 million deadweight tons, 104 handhold ship orders, 178597 million deadweight tons; According to Quang Yun International(600,685) completed 10 ships in the first half of the year, 7 new orders for shipbuilding, 284,000 deadweight tons, a cumulative number of hand-held ship contract orders for 46 ships, 1,959,100 deadweight tons.
Development of military and sea support ship enterprises
In the course of the ship market adjustment, the large ship enterprises can alleviate the pressure from the ship building business by the way of the business combination adjustment. Military industry and marine engineering are two important pillars in terms of the financial results of the listed companies.
China is one of the main suppliers of naval naval ship equipment products. Its military business includes: "Marine diesel engines and components, on-board weapon launchers, Naval navigation equipment, Naval communications equipment, military reinforced computers, Naval transmission equipment", and so on. Upstream ship equipment, shipboard weapons, and some non-core ship construction ".
Military revenues accounted for 11.8 % of revenue in the first half of 2011. Considering the stability and continuity of the profit of the military industry, this will undoubtedly become an important pillar for China to adjust the ship market in the coming years.
China shipping and broad ship international all without exception choose marine engineering business as the key breakthrough to deal with ship market adjustment.
Similarly, the China has the advantage of human and raw material costs in the construction of marine engineering equipment. The construction of infrastructure is already of a certain size. It is expected that the process of the transfer of the global shipbuilding industry to China will take place again in the marine engineering industry and that China will become the future centre of global marine engineering equipment construction. Following the successful delivery in 2009 of the sixth generation of the China deep-water semi-submersible drilling platform for NOBLE in the United States, vessels from China successfully delivered a deep-water semi-submersible drilling platform of 3,000 metres to China Ocean Oil Company in 2011. This represents the highest level of technical capability in the China marine engineering business that can already compete in international marine engineering. According to the first half of 2011 results, China heavy industrial marine engineering orders show explosive growth, new marine engineering platform orders 5, the contract amount to 4.573 billion yuan. China ship this year signed two new orders for a lift drilling platform.
For large ship enterprises, in the course of ship market adjustment, military industry and marine engineering will become the focus of their business development for a long time to come.
